Always a fun day out, watch the Bright Mountain Men take on their rivals at their stunning home ground at Pioneer Park, Bright. Watch from the historic stand or head into the bar at The Pavilion. Alternatively, see the Myrtleford Alpine Saints Football Club at McNamara Reserve competing in the Ovens Murray Football League, or the Dederang Mount Beauty Bombers heating things up in the Tallangatta & District Football League.
CRICKET
Pack the esky, grab a picnic blanket and settle in for a classic day of country cricket at one of the beautiful ovals in Bright & Surrounds. Head to Myrtleford to see the Ovens Valley United Cricket Club – AKA The Tigers – or watch the Mount Beauty United Cricket Club or Harrietville Cricket Club compete on home turf against the talented teams of the Wangaratta and Districts Cricket Association. During the cricket season, you can find the match fixtures and results on the Wangaratta and Districts Cricket Association website.
SOCCER
With a rich Italian immigrant history, it almost goes without saying that 'the beautiful game' is taken very seriously in Myrtleford – and so is their canteen! Watch the local talent take on the teams of the Albury Wodonga comp at the Myrtleford Savoy Soccer Club's home ground between March and September. NETBALL
For some fast-paced excitement and seriously good talent, watch a game of netball. Grab some mates and hit the bowling green or croquet court for a fantastic way to catch up with family and friends. Visit the Myrtleford Bowls Club, Bright Bowls Club or Bright Croquet Club for more information. There are also small bowling clubs in Tawonga, Mount Beauty and Dederang.
TENNIS COURTS
If you've never played on an authentic grass tennis court, then now's your chance. The Myrtleford Lawn Tennis Club has nine maintained grass courts available for hire. Or you may just like to pull up courtside to watch the huge regional tournament that takes place each Easter. Additionally, there are artificial grass tennis courts available to hire in Bright, Mount Beauty and Dederang and a public concrete court in Dinner Plain.
GOLF COURSES
With picturesque surrounds and three 18-hole golf courses with grass greens – Bright Country Golf Club, Myrtleford Golf Club and Mount Beauty Golf Club – and a small 9-hole sand scrapes golf course in Dederang, those who enjoy a hit should definitely make space to pack the clubs in the car.
GYMS & POOLS
The Bright Sports Centre has a 17m indoor heated swimming pool, gym, fitness classes, squash courts and massage services. There is also a 50m outdoor swimming pool in Mount Beauty, and a 25m outdoor pool in Myrtleford. A number of gyms are in the region, including Forme Fitness and Headstrong Health & Fitness in Myrtleford, Bright Boot Camp and Alpine Fitness Centre in Bright and Mountain Gym in Mount Beauty.
